This all-electric Nissan van concept has been shown ahead of its official debut at tomorrow’s Detroit motor show. The as yet un-named model is an electric version of its NV200 van, with front-end styling borrowed from the Leaf.
Nissan has long promised to bring an electric van into production as one its initial range of EVs. When confirming the concept last month, Nissan said the model is "designed to provide businesses or families with flexible, roomy cargo space, while offering a dramatic CO2 footprint reduction".
The concept is also likely to borrow its all-electric running gear from the Nissan Leaf. That means a 107bhp electric motor mated to a lithium-ion battery pack, which should be good for a range of around 100 miles.
The NV200 van is going to a much more common sight on American roads in the coming years, not least because it has been chosen as the basis of the new New York taxi from 2013.
