A second brief look behind the scenes of Model S production as Tesla count down the days to their first customer deliveries in the United States.
The Aluminium body shell is assembled by robots along a Body Framing production line. At each station, robots build a sub-assembly and then transfer it to the Body Framing Line where it is joined with other sub-assemblies.
As this is not a conventional steel body shell the robotic arms bond and rivet most joints (as opposed to spot welding) with some seam welded of sub-assemblies.
