Bob Chandler creation, BigFoot, is turning over a new leaf. A greener leaf as it smashes cars.
“This thing is quiet. You can hear the cars crunch, glass crunching. That’s the way I started out when I first did it. I had mufflers on the truck and they were quiet.” said Bigfoot Creator Bob Chandler.
That was 38 years ago. But Bigfoot could now be called silent foot. “It’s really, really quiet. It kind of sounds like a mad RC car.” said Bob Chandler. Thursday’s test run of it’s new energy efficient four by four was a success.
“We built this truck in five weeks working seven days a week, 12 to 15 hours a day until we got it done. And this particular one, the electric truck is 360 volts and it’s 1400 amps.” said head fabricator Bryan Bertoletti.
It takes 36 batteries to power this modified pickup. For the St. Louis based company and team that started the whole monster truck mania, well, they’re changing the game one more time.
So, next time you go to a monster truck expecting to hear a roar. The only thing you’ll notice is the raw power of this car smashing success. That’s progress when a monster truck is leaving a quiet carbon footprint or tire tread.
