At the Guangzhou Auto Show today, GM-SAIC has officially unveiled the Sail Springo EV. The Sail Springo EV is the the first joint venture in China to develop a production electric vehicle.
Power comes from an electric motor that develops 116 hp and 220 Nm of torque, along with 22 kwh lithium-ion battery pack. This allows the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 km/h. The range is 130 km and charging from a 220V outlet takes seven hours. In addition, it has a sport button that makes acceleration 20% faster.
On the interior, the cabin has white panels, seat fabric complements the dashboard, a touchscreen display and a digital instrument cluster.
The Springo EV has a starting price of 258,000 yuan ($41,400), but buyers can get a 54,000 yuan subsidy from the central government.
